The first mentions of the settlement date back to 230 BC. Alicante (in Castilian: Alicante, in Catalan: Alacant) is a city in the southeastern part of Spain, the administrative center of the province of Alicante in the autonomous community of Valencia. It is located on the Mediterranean coast, 125 km south of the city of Valencia. In recent years, the city's population has increased, and currently around 350,000 people live in Alicante. Alicante is famous for the medieval Santa Barbara Castle, which is located in the historic center of the city.

Alicante (or Alacant) is a city and port in Spain on the Costa Blanca, the capital of the province of Alicante (Valencian Community). It has a port, an international airport and a railway station.

1) International Airport (El Altet)

It is the sixth busiest airport in Spain in terms of passenger traffic. Located 9 km southwest of the city of Alicante (12 km from the center) on the Mediterranean coast.

How to get to/from the airport to Alicante?

- Bus: The stop is located right outside the terminal exit. The bus (line C6) runs every 20 minutes. The final stop is the central bus station of Alicante. The journey takes about 20 minutes and costs 3.85 euros.

- Taxi: Taxis are available in front of the terminal exit. The official taxi service is called Radio Taxi Elche. A ride to Alicante usually takes 15-20 minutes and costs between 20 and 25 euros.

- Car rental: Offices of car rental companies are located in the terminal building (Centauro, AVIS, Europcar, Goldcar Rental, Hertz, National Atesa, and Record Go).
